Does BIM speak to you?
BIM or « Building Information Modeling » has been developed for several years around the world and is used more and more frequently.
It is a digital method of collaboration in industrial and construction projects thanks to a parameterized 3D model, making it possible to collect a multitude of relevant information concerning the project and which is then linked to a common exchange format: the l’IFC (Industry Foundation Class).
For example, for a specific structural element, we will know its characteristics, its quality of concrete, its installation time, its lifespan, etc., …
The BIM model can be used to generate execution drawings, to store and use metadata or to visualize work in 3D.
With the BIM model available to all stakeholders on a project, the loss of information during the life cycle of a structure, including the planning and execution process is minimized.
